Don't be shy when you are appreciated.

Everyone loves to be admired and appreciated. Right? However not many people are willing to offer sincere compliments to others. And the funny part of life is, when you received admiration at times, do you know how to receive them confidently with pride or shy away from them.

Quote you one typical example happened yesterday. One of my brother in law had done a good favour for me. Out of courtesy and appreciation I sent him a 'thank you' message. I said, "You are the most efficient brother I have. Almost like God sent". I'm sure he loves to be appreciated though he might not be a child. Surprisingly came his reply, "Aiyooo... yo dun la said like that! I'm just a simple Cina man. Just do what is best for my brother".

To me he has all the qualities of being an efficient and responsible person but the drawback is, he is shy and lack the confidence of being appreciated. His heart could have felt nice and wanted but didn't have the courage to reveal them. Most people who don't have the understanding of life might behave in such manner.

The safest and polite way is just to reply with two simple words, "Thank You". Or if you are a highly motivated person, you might add further, "Thank you! You make my day" or "Thank you. Helping my brother is an honour".

Albert Schweitzer said
"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us".

  1. Well, you cant blame your brother in law, it's a human nature and sometimes people are just being so humble and there is no harm in keeping the light moment in one's heart. Other's just smile in compliment and sometimes smile is more than anything a word can describe. it's more than thank you, it's more than saying "i appreciate it".
