What is pride?

The word PRIDE looks simple but it serves different purposes in life. In layman term, it means pleasure or satisfaction taken in achievement or the opposite as arrogant or disdainful conduct. In our day to day life, pride at times drains our energy but sometimes we really needs it to excel.

A couple was in love madly but came a day when both quarrelled on some misunderstanding. Both refused to talk and compromise. To further anger each other, they complained and criticized further. If love still remains, it will come to a point that both might feel the pain in their heart. This is called love sick. On their own, they cannot sleep, eat or work. They feel miserable and unhappy all the time. The only solution is one party has to swallow his or her pride. Just admit your wrong and the other party will accept with pride. If pride overrules both of them, most likely they will never have a chance to meet up again. Pride is the main killer on their mind.

You might want to be a successful salesperson but are not prepared to accept defeats and rejections at the beginning, then most likely you won't make it in the first place. On the hand, if you started with pride which you earned through the many years of learning and understanding life, the chances of succeeding is greater. Pride within yourself creates confident, and respect bursts yourself with pride.

Words spoken here are correct too. Muhammad Ali's famous quote; "I am the greatest. Not only do I knock em out, I pick the round." George Bernanos said, "It's a fine thing to rise above pride, but you must have pride in order to do so." By Benjamin Franklin, "Pride that dines on vanity, sups on contempt."

Failure is not a negative but a teacher.

I have known Edi and his wife Siew Len for more than 15 years. Last Sunday, we had a chance to talk together and reviewing their current life insurance. Of these past years, I believe the present moment could be the best of Edi's working career. Edi is definitely a very responsible, hardworking and thoughtful man but without much luck, he was not able to excel in his earlier employment. There were many occasions when he was jobless when he had to shoulder his family burden with fear and hardship. Nonetheless his wife, Siew Len was always there to support and offer all necessary encouragement for him and the children. Although she is a very simple lady, she gains her spirit and determination from her spiritual belief to overcome all obstacles and financial constraint during the difficult years. To relieve her husband financially, she turns full time housewife to be kinder garden teacher in the day. The saying of; "For every successful man, there is always a lady behind" is true. Today, I can see Edi is happy because he is doing well while working with a reputable company. His wife has been playing her role well, while planning in all ways for the family to be at what they are now.

The experiences of seeing others live and suffer, gave me the chance to understand more about the facts of life. Quoted in The Pravs World; "Failure is not negative. It is a teacher. It molds, refines and polishes you. So that one day your light will shine for all to see. It isn't the failure you experience that will determine your destiny, but your next step and then the next that will tell the story of your life."

To my great friends, Edi & Siew Len, thank you for being such nice friends. I truly had learned a lot from you both. Your love and determination are most admirable.

Get the right man who loves you.

Sometimes love is treated unfairly, when one has got it, she doesn't want it but another wants it, she hasn't got it. I have known two lady friends, who miss the magic of love in their lives. The first younger loving lady is lonesome because she has not found her ideal man yet. Her life is boring and meaningless, except work and work all day. She cries in silence with pain in her heart for the missing part of love. The second lady is a divorcee who had experienced the frustration and sorrow of being loved before. The unsuccessful marriage made her to be a stronger woman who no longer believes in love anymore. Her remark, "Do I need a man now!", when there is a man who madly loves her passionately at present.

For these two ladies I specially write, "Is easy for woman to get man. But is not easy for a woman to get the right man to fall in love". Look at our world, there is no plant, animal, creature, insect or bird that could live alone by themselves. If the first man on earth, Adam could not live alone, no person can live by herself or himself either. Perhaps this is a Law of The Universe with the creation of the two different sexes in order for all of us to survive.

The purposes of having a man is to let him loves you truthfully with all his heart. To love you with patience and kindness. He has to understand, love does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. He has to believe, love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He always has hopes and always perseveres because he trusts love won't fail. This is the type of man, my lady friends should fall in love with. Because Love has got miracle.

I have a romantic poem specially written to all my friends who are in love or soon to be in love again:

May our relationship last forever.

May I sail upon your sea.

May we go through life together.

May your breathe my gentle air.

Wife & girl friend.

Man has dreams and fantasies. To some some men; "The greatest achievement for a man is to be able to conquer two women and make them fall in love madly with him passionately. One is a wife and the other is a girl friend. You can even be happier by never allowing these two women to meet. Then you are truly a wonderful happy father and a good lover."

On the hand to some practical men, they think; "The greatest downfall for a man is when he accidentally conquered two women and make them fell in love madly with him passionately. One is a wife and the other is a girl friend. You can even be more sorrowful, if by chances these two women were to meet. Then you are truly a regretful sad father and a lousy lover."

Whatever it is, the challenge is up to us to take in life. After all, I am here to show the humorous part of man and woman in their different ways of living.

Be a positive energy giver.

Positive energy can be created when good words are spoken with meaning. I used to tell all my friends, especially those lady admirers who love talking to me, please give sincere compliments to those you meet. Those few who understand me, we help each other by energizing ourselves with sweet conversation whenever we meet or even on phone.

I had one good short chat over the mobile phone this morning with one lady friend.

She; "Hi dear! how was your day?"

Me; "Good! But with your sexy voice, you make my day even more cheerful...honey."

She; "Really! U do know how to make me happy with your nice words."

Me; "Yes! I do coz I am always blessed by God to have attractive and intelligent lady friend like u around."

She; "I called u bcoz I had lost a sale. However having such a knowledgeable friend like u with us, I know u will inspire me again."

Me; "Please don't be disheartened by one failing case. Just take it as a learning lesson and u will improve on the next round. After all, I know u are a smart lady who will overcome this short fall."

She; "Thanks dear. You are a great motivator."

Me; "I am glad you take my words. And I only help those who deserve it...like u the most understanding lady I know. Bye now!"

Although the conversation was short and precise, each session was added with compliment of words for each other. I consider each compliment given as one positive energy point gained by the one who received. The more points given and received, powerful positive energy is created within then. She was happier after spoken to me and I also felt a feeling of accomplishment. We are both positive energy givers and we make our lives more pleasant and meaningful. These are true friends who understand the facts of life; To Give and To Receive.

Success comes with undivided love.

As I was leaving the office, I met two young energetic lady agents in the lift. They gave me a broad friendly smile. One was quick to ask me this interesting question, "Mr Foo, how did you do your lifetime MDRT? Can you share about your success?" In fact I was in a rush to pick my car from the basement. Nonetheless I still like to share some ideas to these keen learners. I responded, "Before I answer your question, tell me. Are both of you Christian believers?" They replied, "Yes! we are." I continued, "Good! Do you strongly believe in God and are happy with HIM." With eagerness they said,"Certainly!"

As I was walking to my car and they were following me, I explained, "You believe in God with devotion, sincerity, faithfulness, honesty, unselfishness and offering unconditional love. To HIM whom you have never seen or touch, except you can feel and sense but yet you are prepared to offer your undivided Love, cause you believe in HIM totally. If only you could also offer the same unconditional and undivided love to your friends and clients whom you definitely can feel, touch and see, magic will happen to your entire lives and career. You have to believe the Law of Universe when love has got miracle. God in return gives you HIS blessing. Similarly your career will offer you success".

Although it was a short statement, my two engrossed agents were greatly enlightened with my sharing. I hope they would apply my thoughts and succeed in their endeavors of this career in selling life insurance.

Add humour into inspiration.

When I was still in school, this was what written to inspire the poor; "I cried for I had no shoes until I saw a man who has no leg."

Things has changed. Today we add humour to our words for inspiration; "I was sad till I saw a man without two arms, shaking his shoulder and jumping with joy. When I asked him why he is happy? He replied, I am not happy, my balls are itchy. I can't scatch it!! Ou!"

Both phases have the same inspiration but the second one makes you laugh and to remember. Coz sense of humour is important in life.
