I have a keen learner who is a 10 years old boy. He knows the different between intelligence and smart. Intelligence is the ability to learn and smartness is the ability to apply what you have learned. Recently he asked again,"Sifu! How to be smart like you?"
In the simplest way to explain to my student, I said... Each time when u learn and hear something interesting, please talk and share with friends about what you have gathered. Information could be stored in our outer brain for only 48 hours. If you don't apply what you have listened, after the 48 hours you would find it difficult to remember what you had learned. However if you seriously attempt to speak and use the application within the 48 hours, those information would be automatically be pushed and stored into your inner brain for future use. The inner brain has the capacities to keep and maintain million of data and info in this powerful memory. Smartness comes when you have more ideas and thoughts which are permanently stored in this magical brain.
The 10 years old friend found it easy to learn from the above explanation. I hope you too.
Food for thought - "All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become" - Buddha quotes.
