Big problems without maids at homes.

Maid shortage worsens with Cambodia running low

PETALING JAYA: Some 35,000 families are being forced to do a “huge balancing act” as the shortage of foreign maids turns critical with supply dwindling down to a trickle.

To add to the problem of Indonesia’s moratorium on maids, Cambodia is also facing difficulty in sending domestic helpers aged above 21.

Malaysian Association of Foreign Maid Agencies is urging the Government to seriously attend to this pressing matter and consider lowering the age limit of foreign maids to allow more maids in from Cambodia.

> Parents are sacrificing quality time with their children as weekends are used to complete household chores.

> Freelance agents are cashing in on the situation to offer “informal” ways of providing domestic help, including getting Indonesian maids into the country despite the freeze by the Indonesian government.

Reading the above headline on our local paper is sad. 30 years ago such problems didn't exist. Reason is quite simple because our children are all been pampered. When i was a little child, i had to tidy my room and made my own breakfast before going to school. Coming home from school was no relaxing time for us. I had to help cleaned the house and assisted my father to run the coffee shop in front. I had to hand washed my clothing, including my father shirts and pants. If my mum was busy, i had to cook as well. Doing the household chores were never a shame to us those days. Not our children of today. They had been spoiled by the maids ever since they were borned. Most of our successful children who could be doing well in their career, might not know how to cook rice or wash their clothing.

If you want to build a rounded family at home, please don't employ maid in the house. Make your children share the household chores. If they are still very young, teach them to clean their rooms and spaces. They have to be taught how to be responsible and willing to help. In their teens, they should know how to wash their own clothing and to cook for themselves. If your children know nothing of these, it's high time as parents you should guide and encourage them to be independence. Wondering how many readers out there would agree to my points!!!

Great carpet cleaners...We hired Carpet Cleaning to come out and clean our townhouse, they did an excellent job. The real estate agent was very impressed how clean the carpets looked for selling http://sweeneycleaning.net/locations/port-charlotte-fl/.
