Over a breakfast at a nearby coffee shop, I was observing a table seated with nine young people. There were four males and five females. I could sense they must be office colleagues taking their breakfast together. I was curious who was going to pay the bills. Each of them ordered their drinks and food individually. Later when the waitress came, she had to collect the cash individually too. I see! They went the Dutch Style, meaning each of them paid what they had ordered. No free meal for the ladies.
If I had been there and a friend to them, I will never allow them to pay. I always like to pay for my friend's meals, and I feel honour to do it. You can say that is generous of me! It had been my habits ever since I was a boy, I always attempted to be the payer for most outings with my friends. Perhaps some of them could be taking advantage on me, but I never bother about those little bills if I could afford them.
Today I realised some facts of life. The least you spend the lesser one could earn. While those who are kind to spend for others, or willing spender, eventually they earn more than those who are miser or reluctant spenders. The principle is... The more you spend, the more you earn.
This happened during the last Xmas in Shanghai. A common friend CY invited my son and his wife for a Xmas eve's dinner at a Six Stars Hotel down town. The price per head was 2000 local currency. My son told CY he had many relatives who were visiting him from overseas and might not be convenient to attend the expensive dinner. Instead CY invited all my son's relatives for that function and paid for all their entertainment. He was definitely very generous to pay for guests he didn't even know. Tell you what! CY is a self made billionaire who started with nothing. Out of his kindness and being a generous man, he became successful and wealthy. The principle works... The more you spend, The more you could earn. Believe or not! Is up to you!!!
Food for thought - "Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, "What's in it for me?" -- Brian Tracy quotes.
