Too much knowledge with money can change your character.

Irene has been in the life insurance business for a few years. She was doing pretty well at the beginning. However this year, she realised she isn't moving and sales are badly affected. When she came to seek my advices, I noticed that she had a inner pride which deter her progress. I told her that everyone we meet, we have to make them feel important. She was doing it, when she was a rookie agent but not now, when she knows her work better.

Many agents after working for some years fall into this working habits. At the beginning, they were naive, were prepared to be humble and did whatever were necessary to achieve success in their careers. Along the journey, they acquired knowledge through many training classes. Hard work definitely showed results, when they saw more income plus recognition were awarded. Without them realising, gaining knowledge and earning higher income, changed their character and personality. They developed pride and self esteem inwardly. Their expectation on others are much higher now and they gradually lost their humbleness of the heart.

Irene is caught under this situation when she is reluctant to be friendly to those who are unknown to her. Her pride is holding her back when she is not prepared to offer the sincerity of kindness. Not forgetting in our life insurance business, what we sell are mainly love with care and concern. Without care and concern, nobody will buy life insurance from us on a regular basis. Kindness of the heart is the gate way to staying in our career. I sincerely hope Irene and those who are at lost in this career be reminded that what I wrote here are the truth. You started extremely well and I am sure you will be even better if you keep to your original character and personality.

Please take this phrase of meaning, "To be kind is more important than to be right. Sometimes all a person needs is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a patient heart that listens."
