Appreciation works wonders...

Are you aware that most people criticise more than appreciating and condemning is greater than admiring? It is funny because spotting defects is faster than identifying the beauties of life.

I have an old aunt whom nobody likes. Each time she met us, she would say things to hurt us. She might say, "You look thinner! Ayah, why so fat now! Your hairstyle is lousy! The dress isn't attractive! Why so many pimples on your face?" These unpleasant remarks scared all her relatives away. So much so she has to live alone because non of her children wanted to stay with her. Are you like her? Please don't! You would soon be the most unpopular person on earth.

The easier way to befriend others is to offer sincere and sweet compliments to everyone. A person might not be attractive and has nothing to show, but I'm sure there might still be a tiny beautiful spot which could be spotted. If only we take a little effort and time to admire the person. Offering compliments is like giving energy to others.

Ah! There are also many who receive admiration but lack the skill and manner to receive them. For instance, the other day when I met Rose Tham, I promptly greeted her with these nice words, "Wow! You look attractive & sexy my dear!!" You know what? Instead of responding me with a big Thank You, she tried to hit me with her umbrella. And threw me with this reply,"You cheeky playful man!" See! Not all ladies know how to take compliments and admiration too. The right way to acknowledge is, "Thank you! You really make my day. And equally you are also a handsome young man Robert."

My belief -
"Feeling appreciated is one of the most important needs that people have. When you share with someone your appreciation and gratitude, they will not forget you. Appreciation will return to you many times." Steve Brunkhorst
